Rose Painting, Floral Still Life, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting 8x8x1.5" Oil SOLD

Yes, yes, yes......I am still painting flowers.  I have been on quite a flower jag lately.

I was pleased with this one.

SOLD

Roses have always been difficult for me.  This time I tried to channel Elio.  I was determined not to describe each petal,  I did my best to remember the softness and translucency of a rose petal.  I wanted to pop the colors, but, not too much.  Finally, I made myself stop!

Yes, I like this one.....and I hope you do too.

Flower Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Expressionist Art, Print on Canvas

I went to Biltmore Gardens a few weeks ago, and the conservatory was bursting with tulips, daffodil, hyacinth and other spring favorites.  I was so inspired!

Purchase here
This one one of three paintings I did with this color combination, a favorite of the Biltmore gardeners.

The original is sold, but contact me for a giclee print in the size of your choice.

Living in Florida for 40 years, I'm am enjoying my first spring in the Blue Ridge Mountains, seeing many of the flowers I remember as a child.  I am excited to see even more as the season turns to summer.  Have my fingers crossed that I will find lilac in my neighborhood.

More to come.....thanks for ready my blog today.

Floral Oil Painting, Knife Painting, Small oil Painting, Daily Painting

I call this "Roadside Bouquet" because I was walking a country road in the Blue Ridge Mountains last summer, and I collected all these wonderful flowers blooming in ditches and fields.  Wild day lily, Queen Ann's Lace, daisy and purple clover abound!

SOLD
I was in the zone, while painting this, slinging paint and making no effort to be true to the image I was working from.  No, my orange day lilies don't look like day lilies and I am fine with that.

It was one of my favorite home made bouquets...here is the picture.

I cannot wait for summer to return!

Mountain Wildflowers, Floral Landscape, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 8x6" Oil on Panel SOLD

Last fall, we took a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  It was a crisp, sunny day and my camera was busy clicking away.

SOLD

It's hard to go wrong with a blue and yellow painting.....it just shouts "Cheerful".  The background was painted  with a brush, but I used a palette knife on the flowers and grasses.  That's when it started to be really fun!

I feel like I was able to capture the feel of the day......I hope it made you smile!

Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Small Floral Still Life, "Garden Treasures" , 8x10 Still Life SOLD

I have been doing lots of florals lately.  It seems I cycle in my work, doing several abstracts, or seascapes or landscapes, until, finally, something else inspires me and I move to another subject.  Probably, because of spring and summer, flowers have my attention now.

SOLD

Last winter, we purchased a vacation condo in Waynesville, NC, smack in the middle of the Smoky Mountains.  When we returned in the spring, imagine my surprise, to find we had also acquired a flourishing flower garden.  I love flowers, but I did not imagine my time there being spent pulling weeds and deadheading!  As my husband says, "it is what it is" so when we return there soon, gardening tools will be included in our luggage.

The up side of the story, is the pleasure I get from the gorgeous flowers.  Each time we visit, a new surprise awaits.  We have ferns and dogwood, Japanese maple, lily, bleeding heart  and roses.  I cannot wait to see what will be in bloom on my next trip.
