Floral Still Life Painting, Daily Painting, "A Rose is a Rose" by Carol Schiff, 9x12x1.5"

I was in the zone of this one and able to complete it very quickly.  My palette knife was slinging paint.....maybe it had to do with the music I was playing.

You may recognize this set up as I have painted it before.  Last time it looked like this:

I enjoy painting the same object or scene in different styles.

Dandelion Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Just a Little Dandelion", 6x8" Original Oil

I have been painting many spring flowers the last few weeks.  Every morning, I grab my camera and go for a walk, hoping to find some beautiful flowers.  I found one type of flower that was visible everywhere.....dandelions!

They sparkle like little buttery jewels in the fields and lawns.

I painted with strong, bold strokes to bring contrast to the delicate little flowers.  Next time I will try to paint the fuzzy white ones.

Happy Day!

Flower Painting, Iris Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" on Canvas Panel

I spent most of the spring in the mountains of North Carolina, surrounded by flowers everywhere.  They must have the perfect environment for flowers, and I loved every minute of it.  This is one of the beautiful iris' I photographed during my stay.

I had a difficult time getting this painting to the finishing point, but turns out, my real struggle was in trying to get a decent photograph of it.  I find that blues and greens tend me merge when photographed, especially blues.  I took many photos of this painting, under different conditions, but I believe many of the subtle color changes were lost.  Note to self:  Don't do blue and green paintings, and don't do very dark paintings.....also impossible (for me) to photograph well.

In any event, thanks for viewing my art today.

Pansy Painting, Flower Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Perky Pansies" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil, SOLD

On a cold January morning a flower painting seems perfect to start the day.

SOLD

This little piece sold at our group Christmas sale last month.  Thank you Helen Wheatly for your purchase and your very kind words.

When I see pansies, one of my favorite flowers, I always remember coming to visit my grandmother.  We lived in Ohio and a winter trip to Florida was always welcomed.  My grandmother would always have her yard planted with pansies, which are a winter flower in Florida.

Stay warm today....wherever you are!

PS:  I will soon have some exciting news to share with you.....stay tuned in!

Floral Landscape Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Coneflower Painting, 12x16" Original Oil

I seem to be stuck....painting coneflowers!  It could be worse.

I have been fascinated by coneflowers (echincea) every since I first saw them in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  First, I tried to grow them.  Not such good luck.  My thumb is only green when I paint.

detail
It's not that they are difficult to grow, but they must be deadheaded.  Since I am only in North Carolina for a few weeks at a time, I usually would fine brown flowers.  Before they could bloom again, I would be gone.

I added a few dandelions and a fiddlehead.  Hope you enjoy this piece.

Thank you for viewing my art today.

Palette Knife Painting, Sunflower Art, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Textured Wall Art, 11x14x1.5" Oil on Canvas

Here in Appalachia, we have an over abundance, of sunflowers, and old weathered barns.  I happen to love them both.

Like so many other places, we are having a long summer, with a warmer than usual fall; resulting in a longer growing season.  But all good things come to an end, and this is "The Last Sunflower of Summer"

I was pleased with the end results, of this painting.  I hope you like it too!

Thanks for viewing!
