Blue Study Floral, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 12x16" Oil on Canvas Covered Panel

Have you ever done a painting, featuring just one color?

I have to say, it is not easy, but an excellent exercise.  At first, it is easy to see warm blues, from cool blues, but as time goes on, they all start blending together.  At least, that is my experience.

It was a relief to work on the flowers, just to ge a different color on the canvas.

Next up, a red painting?  There is a saying that reds are the most difficult.

Have a happy day!

Small Floral Still Life, Pink Beauty 6x8", Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting

I wanted to practice painting flowers, and found a reference in my files.

Purchase here

Trying hard to put into practice the techniques Elio Camacho tries to push into my head.  Brushwork, color relations, composition, the bride!  Not sure if I was successful, but, there is always tomorrow!

Thanks for viewing my blog today.

If you have taken pictures of flowers, that you would like to share with me, I would love to see them.

Dogwood Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Oil on panel

I had an empty wall in my house.....unheard of for an artist!!  After much deliberation, I decided I wanted to hang a couple of florals I painted a few months ago.

Dreaming of Dogwood

I wanted to inspire myself to try more of this style, very loose, and painted with lots of transparent colors and lots of medium.

Daffodil Days

So far, I have had a problem trying to dupicate the look!!!

A further complication.....the original paintings are 6x8" and I needed  larger pieces for my wall.

That was a problem I could solve.  I ordered giclee prints on canvas, increasing the size of the prints.  I have to say they came out wonderful.  I even manipulated the color slightly on the dogwood to work better in my room.  Thankfully, I was able to take high resolution images of both paintings, allowing them to be printed in the size I desired without losing detail in the  image.

Now, I just have to keep practicing until I am able to duplicate my technique.
