One of my favorite flowers to paint, are coneflowers (echinacea).  I think they have so much personality.

This time, I used a palette knife, to add interest and dimension.

I always try to keep a black frame around, as I think they really help the painting to pop!

Roses have always been difficult for me.  This time I tried to channel Elio.  I was determined not to describe each petal,  I did my best to remember the softness and translucency of a rose petal.  I wanted to pop the colors, but, not too much.  Finally, I made myself stop!

Yes, I like this one.....and I hope you do too.

When I am in Florida, I go to the store, purchase flowers, bring them home and try to arrange them perfectly in a beautiful vase.

When I am in North Carolina, I go to the garden, or just pick some wildflowers, plop them in a small milk bottle or jelly jar.......that's what I call "Country Style".

I tried to keep that laid back feel in the painting too, using both a brush and a palette knife.

Then, I brought it back to Florida, to remind me to relax and chill now and then.
