purchase here 260 + shipping I have to admit, I struggled with this piece. I started with a brush, but after much frustration, I turned to my trusty palette knife. In the end, I am happy with the values, and the glow on the hydrangea on the rigfht. And the colors, love the colors. In fact, the more I look at it....the happier I get! So the moral of this story is, don't give up! |

Floral Still Life on Linen, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Mary's Vase" 9x12" Oil
I did this painting a few weeks ago with my paint group, Pieces of Eight. Mary brought in a set up of fresh flowers and her favorite vase.
I wanted to keep it free and loose, so I started painting with both and palette knife and a brush. I was painting on a linen covered panel, and left much of the background unpainted for added texture and interest.
I have never seen a mum in this colors before, white petals and a purpley blue center. This is where the knife action came in.
Thank you Mary, for bring these beautiful fresh flowers and thank you to all who are reading my blog today.

Thistle Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Textured Art, "Thistles" by Carol Schiff, 8x8x1.5" SOLD
This small oil painting is a tribute to thistles. The lowly thistle, thought to be a weed, in my eyes, a brilliant floral beauty.
I photographed this thistle while taking a summer walk in the valley. Armed with my image, I painted it in oil, with lots of texture to suggest the spikey flower. Some of the texture comes from my use of the palette knife, and some of it was applied direct to the canvas. The sides of the canvas are finished, allowing it to be hung with or without a frame.
This is a picture of me, doing my favorite thing!
Thank you for viewing my art today.
