Flower Painting, Daisy Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Palette Knife Painting, 12x12x1.5" Original Oil

This is another painting from Savannah's Lafayette Square.  Surrounding the beautiful fountain, in the park, were a bed a daisies.

I decided to paint with a palette knife, to best describe the tangle of greenery.

I wanted a lively painting, that would give the feeling of the blooms.   I always think of daisies, as cheerful, so I started by painting the ground with cad red.......lots of contrast!

Daily Painting, Fiddlehead Fern Painting, Small OIl Painting, 11x14 Oil NFS

This small oil painting came about because of a trip I took to North Carolina.. I used to live in Florida,  where we didn't get a lot of spring flowers, and when I saw this bed of ferns coming to life, I had to paint them.

NFS
I was surprised how quickly they grew, with obvious growth from day to day.
I decided to use a dark background to really highlight the ferns and keep my palette restricted to greens, blues and purples. I have been pleased with the results of this painting, which is a departure from my usual style. Blues are very difficult to photograph accurately and although the background color appears to be a deep blue, the actual color is close to a black,
This piece is available  at the link above as an original, or here as a giclee'  canvas print in the size of your choice.
Thanks for viewing my blog today.  I hope you take time every day,  to smell the roses.

Coneflower Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Oil on Panel

We spent the month of April in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  It was winter-like when we arrived on April 1st, but within days the trees were covered in blooms.  Flowering pear and crabapple, dogwood, lilac and forsythia were visible everywhere.  I did my little Florida heart good to experience such a spring.

It was too early for one of my favorites from the mountains....coneflowers (echinacea).  I had lots of images from previous trips and painted several based on this favorite flower.

Just a simple little painting, but it pleases me.

It's the small things in life that make it worth living.  This week, for me, it was enjoying a peacful trip to the mountains.

I hope you find your peace this week.

Floral Landscape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting "Summer Wildflowers", 6x8" Oil on Panel

One of my guilty pleasures, when I am in the Blue Ridge Mountains, is my morning walk, which inspired this painting.

You would have to live a summer or two in Florida, to understand how much I enjoy walking in mid 70's temps in the middle of summer.

Of course, I also admire the songbirds and gorgeous, towering, hardwood trees.  It's not really a guilty pleasure, as it is hard work walking 4 miles when at least half of it is up the side of a mountain.

Here's hoping you have a wonderful day.
